Hyundai Elevator held a commemorative event to celebrate its 40th anniversary on the 23rd.

On the 22nd, the commemorative event held at Hyundai Elevator's Chungju headquarters was held in the presence of Hyundai Group Chairman Hyun Jung-eun and CEO Cho Jae-cheon, as well as more than 600 employees and guests. In particular, North Chungcheong Province Governor Kim Young-hwan, National Assembly Member Lee Jong-bae, Chungju Mayor Cho Kil-hyung, and other officials from local related organizations also attended the ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hyundai Elevator.

A variety of events were held, such as a screening of a history video looking back on the 40th anniversary, a ceremony to declare the ESG management slogan, a performance by a choir for the disabled launched earlier this year, a plogging campaign that combines environmental cleanup and donation activities, and a skinship activity that also served as a barbecue party.

In his commemorative speech, Hyundai Group Chairman Hyun Jung-eun said, "Hyundai Elevator has grown into a giant tree that leads one of the pillars of the Korean industry through constant challenges and innovations since the seeds of Honorary Chairman Chung Ju-young sprouted 40 years ago" and gave affectionate encouragement and congratulations, saying, "Let's achieve the feat of a 100-year company by adding the miracle of technological innovation as we have done for the past 40 years."

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Hyundai Elevator has declared its ESG management slogan, 'Acting Together, Value', and is taking steps to establish ESG management. Beyond shareholders, customers, partners, and local communities, it means that all members of the industrial ecosystem will grow healthily 'together'. The performance of the choir for the disabled that gave a celebratory performance added meaning. The choir was founded by Hyundai Elevator in January in accordance with the 'Agreement on ESG Management Practice through Expansion of Employment of Persons with Disabilities' signed with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.

In the afternoon of this day, all the participating employees divided the Chungju area into three zones and held a 'Plogging Donation Campaign'. In addition to picking up trash, they also carried out biodiversity conservation activities such as removing alien ecologically disturbing plants, which attracted attention by holding an extraordinary founding event. Plogging is the activity of picking up trash while jogging.

However, Hyundai Elevator goes one step further. The company has already started a campaign to accumulate 1 won per step and achieved the target of 100 million steps early on one month ago. The 100 million won accumulated in this way will be donated to the Leukemia Children's Foundation and the Outstanding Talent Scholarship to the vulnerable in the community.

Cho Jae-cheon, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, said, "If the past 40 years have been a breathless time to catch up with global companies, the journey ahead will be a time for us to establish ourselves as a standard," adding, "Let's move forward together to a company that is trusted by customers, a company that grows together with the local community, and a future of Hyundai Elevator that never stops challenging and innovating."

On the other hand, Hyundai Elevator, which was founded in 1984, achieved full-fledged growth in 1989 when the late Chairman Chung Mong-heon was appointed. In 1992, the production of 10,000 elevators was surpassed, and in 1993, a joint venture in China, Shanghai Hyundai Electrical Manufacturing Co., Ltd., was established, signaling its overseas expansion.

Hyundai Elevator has always been the first in Korea, such as the installation of a machine-roomless elevator (MRL) in 1999, a car-brake system for elevators in 2001, the installation of a double-deck elevator in 2015, and the commercialization of a jump elevator in 2018.

In particular, the company has developed the world's fastest elevator with a speed of 600 m/min in 2009, a double-deck elevator with a speed of 1,080 m/min in 2010, and a 1,260 m/min elevator in 2020.

Following the commercialization of elevator and robot interlocking services in 2022, Hyundai Elevator is pioneering and leading a new market in the elevator industry with the launch of maintenance service MIRI last year. Recently, the company has been focusing on urban air traffic (UAM) as a new food and attracting the world's attention by introducing the UAM take-off and landing site 'H-PORT', and is not stopping its steps towards becoming a 100-year company in the future.
